Anyone who is interested in making Toronto a better place, staying in the know, and connecting to a network of peers in the process.
Students, seniors, politicians, and people of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome. Our users are a mix of newcomers to the city, community leaders, activists, and people who are curious about what local initiatives are sprouting up. Some of our users describe themselves as onlookers, others are active contributors. All are welcome.
Shape My City is making the invisible network of people and initiatives that are shaping Toronto visible. Joining Shape My City puts you and anything you’re working on on the map, increasing the discoverability of events and initiatives you’re working on, and providing opportunities to meet collaborators and supporters.
No. You have the option of adding photos, videos, updates, events and needs to your initiative page. This keeps people up to date about your latest progress and activity.
You don’t need to maintain your initiative page. When you post an initiative, you also have the option of linking to your social media accounts, and an external website which will help people connect to your latest content.
When new initiatives are posted on Shape My City, we do our best to highlight them in social media and through our newsletter. The newsfeed shows users the latest site activity, so if you update your initiative, or add an event, that will be highlighted for others on the network.
We also recommend that you cross-promote your initiative page, event, or profile through your own social media accounts and networks.
Shape My City connects you to people across Toronto to share, discuss and create the future of this city. Help build the network by promoting an initiative of your own or explore a topic to discover the people and projects that share your vision. We all have an important role to play in shaping the future of our city, Shape My City makes it easier than ever.
